Pretoria (Agence Fides) - Le meurtrier du Père Louis Blondel des Missionnaires d'Afrique (Pères Blancs), assassiné dans la nuit du 7 décembre 2009 (voir Fides 09/12/2009) à Diepsloot, l'une des township de Pretoria (Afrique du Sud), a avoué son crime.
Nelson Kabelo Malope s'est déclaré coupable du meurtre dans le cadre d'une déposition faite devant la Haute Cour du Nord Gauteng de Pretoria.

L'homme a avoué avoir pénétré dans l'habitation des missionnaires, à Diepsloot, avec un certain nombre de complices pour y réaliser un cambriolage. Malope a reconnu être entré dans l'habitation par la fenêtre et avoir ensuite ouvert la porte à ses complices. Après avoir réveillé les autres personnes qui y habitaient et les avoir privé de leurs téléphones portables, les malfaiteurs se sont dirigés vers la chambre du Père Louis Blondel qui a ouvert la porte et a immédiatement été tué par balle.
Les complices de Malope seront jugés dans le cadre d'un procès séparé en février prochain.

Le Père Louis Blondel, originaire du nord de la France, était âgé de 70 ans. Il avait enseigné la philosophie en Tanzanie pendant 15 ans. En 1987, il s'était transféré en Afrique du Sud et avait achevé en juin 2009 son second mandat de Supérieur de la Province d'Afrique australe des Pères Blancs (province qui comprend le Malawi, le Mozambique et l'Afrique du Sud). Il a enseigné la philosophie au Séminaire Saint Pierre d'Hammanskraal. Après avoir fondé « Cordis », un centre Emmaüs, et avoir travaillé au développement d'Orange Farm, une immense township de Johannesburg, il s'était transféré en 2009 à Diepsloot, une autre township de quelques 300.000 personnes se trouvant entre Johannesburg et Pretoria. Pretoria (Fides Service) -Confession of Fr Louis Blondel's murderer, Louis Blondel, of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers), was killed on the night of December 7, 2009, in Diepsloot, one of the townships of Pretoria, South Africa (see Fides 12/9/2009).

Nelson Kabelo Malope pleaded guilty of murder in a deposition made before the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria. The man confessed to having entered the home of the missionaries in Diepsloot, along with some accomplices to carry out a robbery.

Malope confessed to having entered the home through a window and then he opened the door to the accomplices. After having woken up the other people who lived there and stealing their mobile phones, the criminals then headed towards Fr. Louis Blondel's room, who opened the door and was immediately killed with one gunfire shot.
Malope's accomplices will be trialed separately next February.

Fr. Louis Blondel was 70 years old and native of northern France. He taught philosophy in Tanzania for 15 years. Since 1987, he moved to South Africa. In June 2009 he finished his second term as Superior of the Province of Southern Africa (Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa) of the White Fathers. He taught philosophy at St. Peter's Seminary, in Hammanskraal. After having founded "Cordis", an Emmaus center, and worked on the development of Orange Farm, a huge township in Johannesburg in 2008 Fr. Blondel had moved to Diepsloot, another township of about 300 thousand people which is situated between Johannesburg and Pretoria. In Diepsloot, Fr. Blondet had opened a new parish. (L.M.)
